  • Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

    • Understand anatomy and function of TMJs

    • Recognize the clinical features of TMJ articular disorders

    • Recognize the clinical features of muscle disorders

    • Understand the principles of basic management of TMD

 

Dr. Massimiliano Di Giosia: Sleep Medicine for Dentists

  • Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

    • Understand the pathophysiology of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)
      • Recognize the clinical features of OSA
      • Recognize the clinical features of sleep bruxism
      • Understand the principles of basic management of OSA and sleep bruxism

Dr. Willie Chao: Management of Children & Parents and Frequently Asked Dental Questions

  • The lecture participants should be able to:

    • Understand the management of pediatric dental emergencies and frequently asked questions by parents/caregivers

    • Understand the patient and parent behavior management techniques and treatment options

    • Understand the recommendations and resources provided by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry

Dr. Irene Tami-Maury: Cancer Prevention and Control Interventions in Dental Environments

  • Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

    • Identify the significance of oral cancer, its prevalence and overall survival worldwide

    • List the most common risk factors for oral cancer based on regional data

    • Understand the social determinants for oral cancer

    • Describe different approaches for oral cancer prevention, screening, and early detection.

Dr. Takako Tanaka: An overview of Oral Medicine

  • Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

    • Understand the common orofacial conditions managed by oral medicine specialists

    • Become familiar with the management of the common orofacial conditions including neuropathic pain disorders and mucocutaneous diseases

    • Conduct evidence-based practices with the medically complex patient.

Dr. James Hupp: Oral Surgery

  • Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

    • Know key factors to achieving good outcomes in performing dentoalveolar surgery including:

      • patient comfort

      • good visibility

      • proper use of elevators

      • good pre-extraction planning

    • Know the proper management of various forms of dentoalveolar trauma including the management of:

      • avulsed teeth

      • intruded teeth

      • extruded teeth

      • crown fractures

      • root fractures

      • fractured alveolar bone

Dr. Margaret Maclin: Pediatric Dentistry-Management of ECC & Minimally Invasive Dentistry

  • Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

    • Classify the different stages of ECC

    • Understand and identify risk factors associated with the
      development of ECC

    • Comfortably categorize every patient as high, medium or low risk based on their risk factors

    • Be able to explain and teach ideal preventive measures to families

    • Understand the 2 most commonly used NON-INVASIVE treatment modalities of ECC

    • Determine when each method should be used.

Dr. Oariona Lowe: Dentistry for Special Needs Children

  • The lecture participants should be able to:

    • Define the characteristics of patients diagnosed with Autism, Down’s Syndrome, and Cerebral palsy

    • Describe oral manifestations characteristic of these patients

    • Learn behavior management techniques used to treat these patients

    • Understand why dental treatment of these patients require more attention and care.

Dr. Vince Filanova: Patients with Special Health Care Needs Adults

  • Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to understand:

    • Characteristics of Patients with Down Syndrome and Patients with Cerebral Palsy

    • The Dental/Oral manifestations and concerns Down Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy

    • The Management and Treatment recommendations for Patients with Down Syndrome and Patients with Cerebral Palsy

Dr. Nada Kordab: Defining Community Dentistry and identifying strategies to improve oral health

  • Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

    • Be able to define Community Dentistry

    • Be able to discuss determinants of oral healt

    • Become aware of the disparities in the distribution of oral health

    • Be able to discuss the strategies to improve oral health

    • Understand some delivery systems and the financing of oral health care

Dr. Jean Creasey: New Approaches to Community Dental Prevention and Intervention

  • Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

    • Recognize the multiple factors involved in tooth demineralization and re-mineralization

    • Identify prevention focused, evidence based strategies to influence the caries process within a clinical setting

    • Become familiar with techniques for communicating oral health knowledge most likely to inspire behavior change in dental patients

    • Become familiar with the concept of a “virtual dental home” which brings dental access to alternative community settings through utilization of digital technology by trained dental auxiliaries

Dr. Helena Tapias: Introduction to Geriatric Dentistry and Dental Treatment to the Aging Population

  • Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

    • Define “Geriatric Dentistry”

    • Understand the demographics and epidemiology of geriatric dentistry conditions

    • Recognize the evidence based science -link between oral and overall health in older adults

    • Discuss cognitive changes (Normal - Abnormal) in older adults patients including Alzheimer’s Disease

    • Provide and overview of dental management of the geriatric patient

Dr. Evangelos Rossopoulos: Restoring ​Dental implants: the past, the present and the future

  • Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

    • Understand the indications for using dental implants

    • Understand treatment outcomes in fixed prosthodontics using dental implants

    • Understand treatment outcomes in removable prosthodontics using dental implants

Dr. Salvatore Florio: Dental implants in the aesthetic area

  • Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

    • Be able to ecognize the factors that contribute to clinical success in the aesthetic area

    • Be more adept at identifying the most appropriate treatment protocol based on the characteristics of the single case

    • Understand the key factors to consider performing the different treatment protocols

Dr. Giuseppe Gariffo: Dental Implants - Post-extraction Implants and immediate loading

Conflict of Interest: None of the presenters reported any conflicts of interest

Cancellation/Refund Policy: Courses which do not receive sufficient enrollment are subject to cancellation. In the event a course is filled or cancelled, Cambridge Institute for Global Oral Health will refund the full tuition. A full refund, less a $500 administrative fee for each course registrant,  will be given for courses if written notification of withdrawal is received and confirmed 45 days prior to the date of the first course of the program.
